Devastation on Stable Road - Hammock Tree falls into the ocean

Summer 2006 has seen the worst levels of erosion on the beach at Stable Road since 1999. On August 7th, we lost around 1 foot of beach in spots - and this was the final straw for one of the old trees (Hammock Tree) which was hanging on by its last couple of roots.

Around 12:55, we watched in awe as this tree fell into the ocean - and mauiwindcam captured the events unfold! Play the movie below, and watch the tree in the very top right hand corner. Autoplay on this movie is disabled - please press the play button to start playback!
