Music: Sea Horse by Moondog from Sax Pax for a Sax

Well a few weeks ago I decided to play with him only from the water. For 3 days I’d dive in and throw him his favorite frisbee always from the water. After the third day he was getting more and more bold when all of a sudden he took a dive in and he was off like a power boat.

Boy can this dog swim!  And does he love it.  Since that day we now swim for about 2 hours each day. He likes to swim along side of me and race me when I try to swim fast. Even with fins on I cannot pass him. The other day he went to follow my buddies out to the reef when they went stand up paddling so I took after him in my kayak and what do you know he loves that too.

We have been out to the reef and surfed some 3-4 foot waves together. We play every day in the shore break and I am teaching him how to body surf in it. Last week he did a half mile swim without touching bottom and it was only my lack of stamina that ended the marathon.

Of all the dogs on the beach he is easily the numero uno Water Dog. It has bought a whole new perspective to both our days and I can say without doubt that we both love it like crazy.

I have just been given a cool water camera by our neighbor and friend, Jobe. I will be posting some QuickTime movies on the site in the next few days so stay tuned.

As I mentioned, he has unlimited energy and living on a beach like ours it is the perfect place for him to drain some of it.

But he’s a bit of a chewer! 3 pairs of nice shoes at our last dinner party….a matress…..the bench outside and various boxes etc.

He has almost dislocated my shoulder on several occasions reacting to the slightest movement on the beach.  Other dogs tempt him to run off. So we are in training mode right now….and it’s going very well.

Sevin is really intelligent so I know it will not be hard.

Meanwhile I am learning so much about dogs and myself in this process.

Very cool indeed. Anyway we are all having so much fun discovering each other.  Morning and evening walks are the best times for us.  We are truly blessed.

Finally, we want to say mahalo for all your wonderful comments.

It warms our hearts knowing that you are out there sharing our joy.

Well they got that right.  As soon as I untied him he rolled on his back, gave me a big smile and a lick and it was all over.  I had a new friend in my life…..and it was my birthday!

So, let me introduce you to Sevin (short for Lucky seven!) a year old cross with what seems like Australian Healer and Terrier bloodlines.  He is super friendly, has unlimited energy and the happiest demeanor of any dog I’ve known.  We spend hours walking the beach every day and the joy he brings into my life is indescribable.  I’m sure you will be seeing a lot of our new friend on mauiwindcam.

The whole show was dedicated to your favorite website, mauiwindcam.com, and the two sailors aided by Mike Abrams and Norm Roediger peppered me with some very informed and in depth questions about the site.  ”It’s the first thing I see when I open my browser in the morning.” said Connor Baxter. Cool dude!

I was so impressed at the whole pro way they put the show on. And just as much about their knowledge and concern for the sport.  If these guys are our (and the sport’s) future, it looks very bright indeed.  

Later in the show the lads delved into my career as an artist which is a story into itself.  The hour just seemed to fly by so they asked me to return to the show to talk more story another time.
